I'm just reading earlier in the thread and seeing where JohnBoy drops by his house in Florida under load for dinner with his wife. He gets hometime with his wife, but also occasionally manages to swing by and get extra time even if he's not using actual hometime.

I guess that's the kind of thing I'm thinking of, that maybe there was a way I could do the same thing. He's an old vet, though, and I haven't even started yet, so maybe I'm reading it wrong.

 

No, you are reading it correctly... But I guess I toss home time and drive by home time in the same pot.... My mistake... Yes, with a load going that way with extra time in it, doable.

In fact, rethinking it, I do the very same thing on loads going to Florida that pass by savannah ... If I have enough time in the load, and my oldest daughter is available, I will sometimes stop for a quick meal with her or even attend Church with her on Sunday mornings.

I do apologize for misreading it or not answering the question actually being asked.

Man, don't I know it. Daughter just turned 10. Son will be 12 in October. Seems like only yesterday they were falling asleep in my arms.

I like to call it "running vampire" which I am doing to avoid the holiday traffic in the great white northeast. In Jonestown, PA headed to Franklin Mass (Sonoma Williams light load) then to Rocktenn in Wakefield Mass down to Rocky Mount and to the house for the 4th. Love you Abilenees!

Well my turn I guess.
Wake up at 9am. Get a load to Jersey...on a friday...on a holiday weekend. Ohhhhhhh, lucky me. Load delivers at 7am...2 hours before I got the load assignment. Oh well, it'll be late for sure. I'm here now. Then guards tell me they're not accepting it and I have to call my company and get it rescheduled. First time this has happened to me here. Just hope I don't get a ticket parking here. Hopefully not since I haven't delivered yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed everything will be fixed in the morning

 

@5speed - Reading that makes me glad I'm in the Gatorade loop! Got another one back to Wytheville from Indy. At least it salvages a poor pay period. Think it'll put me at 5200. Sucky, but ok.
