Question to all you heavy haulers...... Anyone seen one of these before?
If so, what is it called, and which industry is if used in? I've been around heavy equipment for most of my life and have seen excavators mounted on wheels/tracks, but never on a trailer. It's a jd120 ex on a 3 axel trailer with a weird gooseneck/tow-bar.

It's a tie handler for railroad ties, they set on top of rail cars to load and unload.

    Ok I've got 2 questions for y'all. I'm hauling this 336 on 8 axles.

    20160702_073109.jpg

My first question is, I have a set of shims to put on the 4th axle but I can't figure out how to get a gap in between to place the shims. As a result, it's not flush/ level. How do I make the gap? I tried airing up and down in every combination.

2nd question. On the boom, the metal sleeve that protects the cylinder is the lowest point that is touching a frame rail, is that ok?

I normally try to have the knuckle touching.

Dump the air in the flip axle and raise the air all the way in trailer. That should open the gap for the shims.

Put a block under the knuckle or rubber pad under cylinder. The bouncing of the trailer may lead to damage cylinder. You are in Texas so height should not be a big issue, I would put a block under the knuckle. It will only raise the height a few inches.

Thx for the quick response Ron. Did some other prep work while I waited.

If that is still not enough you can pull the trailer axles up on blocks to allow the flip to drop further.
