Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Anyplace you can walk out into in the winter (Hello Minnesota) with your hair wet and literally have it SNAP OFF if you bend it is WAY, WAY too cold! LOL
-
I do but don't like the extreme cold. I wouldn't last 10min, so my final answer is no.

That is a good way to catch a crippling cold. -
Ive often thought about moving to canada an trying to ice road out. I was born an raised in minnesota and am used to cold cold cold, and I know about going outisde with wet hair and it snapping off if you bend it. Not sure if I could handle going through some of those puddles though holy crap thats some scary stuff. But if I knew it had been tested with the sonar truck I would probably still drive it. Hmm maybe sometime down the road ill move to ole canada.

UNPROFESSIONAL conduct is why they were banned. Do you have ANY idea what -60 does to metal? Metal BREAKS! Air lines FREEZE,,,brake pots BREAK. Mechanics??? What are those...you want to pay $10,000 for a call out? Tow truck DON'T come out on those roads, if you can't fix it yourself you WILL be totally dependent on some other driver to help you do it.
I personally don't know any company that runs the Ice Road to the mines north of Yellowknife that would hire anyone without Northern experience.
Does it get to -60 in Wyoming? Doubt it, when it's that cold you FREEZE & can get frostbite walking from the driver's door to the back of your trailer. Don't think it gets that cold down south.
There's NO truckstops, no cell phone service, no phones, nuthin....not even any TREES, cause you're ABOVE the tree line.
The Mackenzie River is 2 MILES wide, piece of cake compared to the mine roads...the lakes can be 100 MILES wide! That's why they don't take inexperienced drivers. Do you know the signs & what to listen for if the ice is going to let go on you? Do you know what can happen to you if you speed...even by 1 mph?
Your last sentence just said it all...you don't GET it...all you GET is the drama, not what it is in real life.YukonTrucker Thanks this.
