    Why?

Nothing wrong with what you wrote there before you changed it.

Most OTR companies dont pay even close to $15.00 an hr if you break CPM down to hourly wage.Should drivers make more of course they should. But will it happen not likely to the drivers expectations.Big wheels at companies are making mega bucks thanks to the drivers. The drivers should get paid more. The average driver is making $10.00 an hr.That's what starter companies pay.Like I said if drivers are required to lot things on line 4 they should get paid for it.FMCSA or any elected officials won't work for free why should drivers.

Trucking is not for you. There are plenty of jobs out there that do pay hourly with overtime, truck driving is just not one of them.

What i would like to see is. Base plus system for otr. Where in you get a base for every 7 days out, say 400 bucks. Then on top of that you get your 32 cents per mile yada yada, after say 4 weeks the base goes up to 500, and resets to base after 3 consecutive days home. Not because your amazing, but because your willingness to be away from home for extended periods of time...

    Tb0n3 Thanks this.

I am paid hourly but do not get overtime. Some of you act like this is the most difficult and dangerous job in the world. Not even close. You look down at burger flippers(and hate it when someone looks down at you) that probably have a few living better than you, not because of the pay but because they can control their spending. Most of the problems with it being difficult for a driver to survive is their own lack of financial control.

As for what wage a driver needs, it is never going to be the same. Someone in Arkansas or Mississippi is not going to need the same amount to have the same standard of living as someone in California or New York. People come on here all the time asking what is a good wage. The true answer is whatever you are happy with.

Yeah, let's have government step in and put their feet in our nice clear pond. We know that always works out.
