When did you leave? -
Never had any issues or hassled by DOT over it.

I've never chained down the blade,.. couple 4x4 under it to keep it from digging in the aluminum and roll with it.

It's real good when you are in a situation where the company appreciates you, and you appreciate the job.
Wish it were like that more often...MJ1657 Thanks this. -
Per the regs, the blade or ripper on a dozer is supposed to be secured, one chain on each and you're covered. It really is stupid, they aren't going to lift up and hit anything, but I would rather not give the law any reason to potentially give me a ticket.
Lepton1, TripleSix, Dye Guardian and 3 others Thank this. -
PeteyFixAll, MJ1657, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this.

I put the blade down,.. but have never chained or secured it to prevent it from articulating. Never had one articulate on me.
I'm not questioning what your saying, regs or trying to start a debate. I was only stating how I do it and that its worked fine for me. Just putting in my .02 for what ever its worth these days.
Hursttruckdad Thanks this. -
I have always left the wide dozer blades up so I can see my trailer tires better but also so the width of the blade is above most cars and such especially running thru high traffic areas. I wonder if the folks that write these laws consider this? I would like to see their credentials. I'm sure they feel a raised blade might get to swingin & flip the machine off the trailer or swing left or right & hit another vehicle. I dont know, but I have hauled many, many D-8s with the blade in the air or set on the neck unchained and never had an issue.
Dye Guardian Thanks this.
