I never failed any part of the test to get my CDL from the state. I'm talking about the drive & obstacle course actually at CRE to get hired on.

I don't mean any offense by this but after six times have you started to wonder if this is for you? Everything can be taught and practiced but at some point it boils down to your ability to do what you have been trained to do. Some people are better at certain things and worse at others. It is not saying anything bad about you but maybe this isn't your thing? Your state testing is likely harder than mine but I passed my test on the first try with only about thirty minutes of practice driving a semi in my whole life prior to the test and no formal instruction. I am not an expert trucker but the basics of it come easy to me for some reason. There are other things in life I suck at. People make mistakes and failing a time or two before you pass isn't the end of the world but after six times I would start to think long and hard about if this is your thing. Again no offense meant just looking at the facts and making an observation.

My friend is a cop and told me he knows that state troopers will look for reasons to fail you so they can make more $$. Getting a testing gig for a CDL school is a coveted job. MA is very tough and they just changed the course that you have to pass so he may be screwed once again.Chinatown Thanks this. -
They get 100 a pop when the go out to the schools to test. I believe they keep 50/60% of that. So 10 students a day, @50 a pop.
I got lucky.
I already had my class B when I went back to NETTTS for my A.
I did spend way too much on the school.
However, I beat on their trucks for 6 months every weekend.
When I tested out on a hot day last may I waited till the end. Very last student for the day.
Trooper had seen a lot of failure that day ( all 9 of them to that point ).
Well, what happens when you stick out like a sore thumb?
I passed first time.
Guess having years of mechanical background in the towing industry and actually knowing what the components on the truck are there for and what they do.
Oh, and can slowly maneuver the truck backwards as instructed.
Had to test out in the condo with a 48' trailer cause all the single axle truck/ 45' trailer were being used for students road time.
Trooper asked if I was sure. I said yes let's get this over with.
Went out, passed, came back.
He said to me he had no problem signing the permit as he knew I would be a safe driver.
Indeed, for the most part I have been.
I made a few bumps my first year.
Gotta slow down and relax. Those troopers are people just like you and I. Treat it like that and you'll be fine. While the test has a time limit in Massachusetts, you only need to save 20 min for the road test. Spend the other hr and 10 min doing the pre trip and yard manuvers. Don't rush. -

I passed the driving test on the third try in 2010. I was failed once for impeding traffic because I did not see a mysterious green pickup approaching the intersection I was crossing. There was no pickup when I began crossing the intersection. I did not check for traffic after I was most of the way through the intersection.
I suppose no truck driver ever impedes traffic in an intersection......Dominick253 Thanks this. -
bottomdumpin and gillz107 Thank this.
