Well then, if Interstate is still doing the lease program it is seperate and completely different for owner ops who bring they're own truck.

I know a former Schneider choice driver, who leased his truck from SFI, and left Schneider with his truck and leased on to Landstar.
Know several drivers who have done the same at Prime.
Interstate is not in the business of leasing trucks.....

Sure is. Nobody ever questions a true O/O in why they do it. Being a true O/O is the dream most have. Leasing with the dream to be a real O/O is the mistake. Sure a very few make it through. Most don't. Leasing to just rent and never intending to own is what some other do. If that fits ones desires, then if it works... good. But to Lease to Own is generally a scam that benefits the Company or Lease Company only.

… being able to take your truck with is one of the criteria the IRS uses to determine if your an independent contractor. One of the guys from Prime who was in a lease left with his truck. :)

Not really. They haven't changed there lease contract in a few years. Just that most drivers don't the agreement they signed. Prime's lease agreement gives in very explicit details what it takes to go to another carrier. Did that with my current truck. Went from Prime to schnieder and then this year left schnieder and got my own authority while still leasing the truck from Prime. My lease isn't up until January 2018, so about a year and a few months now.

    BigSky and thaistick Thank this.

I would have gone to intestate, but they won't let people come over who are based out of Washington state.

I think the reason most fail with the lease or lease purchase is because anyone with a CDL and pulse can do that deal. Not enough experience driving let alone business experience.... plus I think a lot see it as unlimited home-time and we all know that is a recipe for failure.

I am one who doesn't ever have the desire to own a truck. I'm not in this game for the long term though, hopefully just a 3-4 more years. So, the lease and more specifically a full maintenance lease works well for me. Maybe, I am not running a one truck business but more of a one truck logistics company.

Interstate has nothing to do with the lease companies or has a stake in them.

    thaistick Thanks this.
