@Redtwin I love running nights, but that's just me,they might deadhead you to pickup a load from PepsiCo,quick load out in under 1 1/2 hrs.
When I deliver this Wednesday morning will have a little over 5700 miles for pay period,so hopefully can get something descent to finish it out.

    JohnBoy and Redtwin Thank this.

I don't mind nights (did night shifts for 20+ years at other jobs) but it would be better if I could be kept running nights so as to develop some sort of sleep pattern.

I know that isn't feasible here with the customers we have but if a dedicated night shift running a customer loop ( like VA-OH etc) was to be introduced I would be all over it.

With set runs you could plan out your week and still rack up good mileage with 4-500 milers.

    Yeah I know I'm dreaming.

So, here I sit in my favorite state of being, nervously excited. However this time it's mixed with an odd feeling of somberness. I'm packed and ready to go save a few things in my motel room. I spent part of the day with my remaining family saying good bye without an answer as to when we'll meet again. I visited my favorite bar and grill for a few drinks and my last Bourbon Street Burger for God only knows how long. I was hoping to see a few old friends but all there was were tourists visiting the area. We talked, laughed and had a great time buying a couple rounds for each other. In the end? A few new friends were made.

I'll roll out around 8am for ole Virginy. Into the unknown and a brand new experience. I'm comforted and confidant that I've been blessed to have one of, if not the best trainers possible in John. I look forward to doing my very best and hope it lives up to his apparent confidence in me.

With 2 years under my belt, 4 years ago, I still consider myself a newbie. And while I'm proud of my 268K safe miles, halted for the sake of family, I'm really looking forward to my first million. Joining a new team sure to have the usual bumps we all face, I look forward to overcoming them as best I can.

Here's to new day and even more new friends. See ya when I see ya. :biggrin_25514:

Good grief lad you make it sound like you're leaving to participate in the invasion of Normandy ;)

Good luck man and kick butt. You're lucky to have a cat like jb in your corner. He almost makes me wanna join Abilene my own self.

Yeah, without knowing the background and current circumstances of what's led me to this point, I can certainly understand your view. As far as being lucky to have a cat like John in my corner? I'll chalk that up to being proactive and nothing to do with luck. ;)

A few shots and screwdrivers also helped with the sappiness. LOL :D
