Looking to get back into trucking since I've been out for a little while and I'm wondering if I need to tell a potential company about a trailer I backed into. It's not on my MVR or PSP. The company (used to be a big carrier) shows up on my DAC and has my experience listed but no other information. It says on the DAC "Work record, eligibility for re-hire, reason for leaving, accident information and drug/alcohol information cannot be reported on the above driver because the providing company is no longer an active participant in the Employment History File." No police were called and I am wondering if at this point I should act like it never happened and simply not tell a potential company.

If it's long enough ago most companies won't care. They usually ask in the last 3 or 5 years how many accidents. Don't lie cause if you get caught they will deny your app instantly or fire you the moment they find out. If it's over three years ago most companies don't care just want to see if you're being honest with them

Most companies are looking for what is called DOT re-portable accidents. Was someone injured? Was a wrecker called to tow anyone? Are you going to he ll for the wreck. If you answer no to the above three questions and still can sleep at night then do not answer the question as yes. There are a lot more trailers out there with starches on them then there are accident reports.

The company is no longer in business and no DAC report. If it were me, I wouldn't say anything about it, but I would have my W-2 forms to show that period of employment, since there's no one for the new company to contact.

Half the companies I used to run for do not exist anymore. The number of years are colossal on the dac eons have passed in Dac time.

I literally zip it, shut up, shovel and bury my problems to any one who wants to interview me for hire. Course they would come here on the forums and learn a few things about me. Especially when I deliver high dollar sports cars in 8 minutes on a trip that requires 30 to deliver people and vehicles legally.

The company was central refrigerated. They were bought by swift, so I guess I'm off the hook for the trailer bump. What should I say about the employment length? I was only there 3 months and they let me go for the first incident. They seemed pretty desperate to get rid of drivers at the time. Do I say I voluntarily left? Or what?

I guess you can say that your company was purchased and you were downsized. And then leave it at that.

You are dead correct about one thing most trucker students are not taught in school. One tiny scrape or accident gets them fired so... fast...

Company was purchased a year later. Maybe I'm overthinking this, I just really need to get this job and get my career rolling again.

Don't be needy. If you get hired, congrats and please DONT GUSH your gratitude. Bosses hate such feminine show of emotions. Ask what is your first dispatch, what time and date and be there. Or actually be early and gone. Good luck!

Have you already chosen a new company?
