    Been there
I have seen the top bunks in some Freightliners and Peterbilts and they seemed quite small, almost rickety. I am a fairly large man and a little heavy (Think Linebacker size). I have also read (Somewhere on here) that a Trainer and Trainee were at a motel every night during training. I could not tell you where I read it though. I was just curious as I think that will be the most difficult part of this learning process. I want to learn and get on the road.

That's what it is right there.

When I was green, my trainer sat with me for like an hour. Told me if I get tired or feel sleepy to wake him, and only stop at an off ramp or rest area. We got on 80 east at the Wyoming PoE, my instructions were to get off at North Platte, NE. And that's just what I did.

I was a trainer at CRST.
I had some trainees that I'm certain are no longer trucking, and really had no place in a truck to begin with. Those were typically the basket cases, that had gone through two, one had gone through three, trainers by the time I got them. And its because they were whiny little babies.
    There's an old saying-
    Trucking ain't for sissies.

So how big are you? I'm 6' 220 as I sit here. I could sleep in the top, no problamo. I'm also pretty nimble even at 220 ( I'm a real good 200 ).

If you training starts tomorrow. You train out, ride second seat for say another month. What is your plan for dealing with the upcoming winter??

Yea that's 290 inches and counting this January. Higher than the trailer. This is Washington, don't try this at home ok?
Little later it was minus 12 in Ft. Bridger. Do you know how cold minus 12 is? Your plan is?

Wait until you don't shower for three days and you finally stop, and you run into this

Please tell me your not going to start whining.

In the Navy we had triple bunks on my ship. It was USS Nimitz, an aircraft carrier. Slept beneath flight deck near the catapult. 12 hours on duty.
    I was made for trucking.

Slept beneath the flight deck near the catapult? You were born to be a trainer.

Meh. I had the forward berthing on a 3 month NorPac once. That was some cruel and unusual ####. More than a few times jumped up and bashed head. Wasn't the jets, the catapult was the #####.
