There are two considerations when it comes to 15+ mph over tickets. The first is what does the FMCSA say. 15 MPH or more over is considered a serious traffic violation. You are allowed 1 in a 3 year period if you get another your CDL will be suspended for 60 days. 3 will get you a 120 day suspension. The state you live in will also add points for this. However carriers have to go by what their insurance carrier says. Your 18 over ticket is not fatal. You should be able to get a job with it. However be careful because you can not get 2 15 over tickets. The FMCSA tables are here.

I love the "young kids don't respect their cdl I'm 100 years old have 5 million safe miles u should have stabbed ur tires with a Guage every morning" type drivers.
After 3 months of driving I got a 63 in a 45 ticket. Local cop and he put an option on the ticket for me to pay an extra 200 and it came off my record. Just a nice bribe to the local kitty. I had no idea then how bad that ticket could have been.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
