Hello, out of curiosity, on average, how much are you grossing and netting per week working with those kind of terms? You mentioned 2500, is that after paying all expenses including fuel per week?

What do you mean the shipper doesnt want it??? Ive had damaged loads, for example load of barrels of molasses, and took the hit on taking it back 1k miles to be able to move on with my truck and make money. Didnt get paid there or back, but at least truck started moving in 3 days again. I cant believe the shipper isnt taking it. Did you try to call them and talk to them without broker involved?

OP would have been better off to buy the load, donate it to a food bank and move on. At least you can write the donation off on your taxes and get back to making money. What's a load of potato chips worth, $5000?

It's true non forced dispatch so what i gross and net varies quite a lot. Freight availability effects it but the biggest factor is me. It comes down to what am i in the mood to do today. This week. This month.

Some weeks i run short 0 to 100 mile loads. Might only gross 3000 to 3500 but only burn 1 tank of fuel all week, heck I've had weeks where i fill up monday morning and still got half a tank the following Monday. Other weeks i do longer runs and gross 5500 or more but spend a lot more and only net 4k. Other weeks i sit home and gross 0. The 2500 i listed above is what i view as the absolute bare minimum a guy that is able and willing to work hard should see hit his bank account on pay day.

Also bear in mind i don't mean a true net that you will pay taxes on cause that number is gonna be different for everyone. I'm talking about the money left over after daily expenses like fuel and tolls. But it does include the money my carrier deducts for getting bobtail and physical damage insurance thru them.

Yes driver spoke to the shipper and broker got very upset. The shipper didn't want the load either though

Chips can be sold to small private stores, there is no need to donate

12 days is insane. What has your ins. agent been telling you?
I'm sorry but business is rough. If you can't manage a conflict you don't belong in this position.

Call the nearest landfill and get a quote.
Phone broker and give him an ultimatum.
    2 hours or it's going.
That or head back to the shipper.
You can unload a light load like that out the back with a hand jack in 10 minutes. Ask where they want it. Give them a choice of on the dock or in the middle of the lot.
But 12 days? If nothing has happened in 24 hours nothing is going to.
But make sure you Ins. Agent is informed and on board at all times. He is the only person to worry about. Not the broker/receiver/shipper.

Thanks old iron, we have filed a claim with the insurance and are now waiting for the adjuster and for them to let us know what we can do with this load
