Apparently my kill switch has been killed. My 69 Pete with 8v71 was hard to shutdown. Eventually I had plywood blocking the intake just before the filter AND vice grips crushing the fuel lines and this was the result.

After waiting a minute to see if she would putter out I jumped in dropped it in reverse and let go the clutch she backed up 10 feet before finally shutting down. I have an intake with a emergency shutoff I will be installing tomorrow. Sure am glad she wasn't running away!
Choked her, crushed her feeding tube, she wouldn't die!

Good old Detroits... Forwards or backwards they just want to run.

After further review, I'm not sure this intake will close off well enough to kill it.

If you have to kill it by dropping the clutch, put it in high gear so it has no power to move.

Im amazed however how little air it needed to keep idling even before I seriously restricted the fuel. It was obviously trying to get more because the plywood was stuck to the tube and you can see in the video the first fitting by the intake was collapsed from the suction. Amazing to watch! -
Maybe install a shutoff valve on a fuel line???

the emergency shut off needs to be mounted using the correct gasket to seal the housing. The flapper seals on the gasket so the gap between the flapper & housing isn't an issue.

you could replace the electric stop solenoid with a pull cable. choking the engine with the emergency shut off is hard on the blower seals.
BIGZILLA Thanks this.
