Trucker1979,you are 100% correct! I have been on both sides of the fence.Walmart's insurance is a joke.Teamster insurance is much better,no comparison.A lady I know that is almost a 20 year employee recently had breast cancer ( she's fine now) ended up will almost $16,000 in medical bills after Walmart paid their part. My wife has numerous health problems and when she was covered by Walmart insurance it was non stop medical bills.Thank God she got disability about 5 years ago. Walmart insurance was even better back then.

No, you haven't been on both sides of the fence because the benefits paid to non-management store employees is not the benefits paid to truck drivers here at Walmart. Not even close!

I will speak about the Walmart paid medical insurance from my experience just this year, since the costs are higher than previous years. I opted for a family plan with the highest deductible and lowest premium. My total out of pocket experse for me is $6750 for the year and I pay $137 bi-weekly for my family of four. Year to date I have accumulated more than $187,000 in medical expenses, yet I have not paid a cent over the $6750 out of pocket maximum, which I already surpassed back in March. All remaining medical expenses, including prescriptions, for the remainder of 2016 will be paid at 100%. By the time 2016 ends, I will have surpassed $200,000 in medical expenses, yet only paid the $6750. This doesn't even count the 75% of my average pay (ADP) paid to me for the first 6 months of my current LOA and 60% of my pay for the next 18 years should I ever be unable to return to work.

I am not someone who whines about costs of medical insurance because in my lifetime thus far I have received more than $1 million in benefits and know nothing is really free no matter how much you want it to be or claim it is.

If you are happy with your union benefits, fine. Go brag about them on your union discussion thread. I could care less about what you make. Just remember, nothing lasts forever. Your benefits disappear when the company you work for goes out of business. I bet Walmart will be around far longer than most of these union carriers who are treading water financially now as it is.

Once our application is in is their anyone we can contact to show our interest in getting a call? Applied in January and didn't get a call and applied May31 and am still under consideration. I easily meet the minimum qualifications. (Same employer for the last 10 years, 1m+ safe miles, no accidents or tickets)

I work for the same company as you do for the last 16+ years. What I said is my personal experience with Walmart insurance.I go to my doctor maybe 2 or 3 times a year and yes,I pay nothing. I'm glad the insurance is good for you and you're family.Just be careful that you don't hurt you're back from doing the Walmart Squiggly ever day!

Ok, I may have missed that you already work here as a driver, so for that I apologize.

What exactly is your problem with the insurance offered? You go to the doctor a few times a year and paid nothing. You say the insurance Walmart offers is a joke, so what is your definition of good insurance in terms of cost and coverage? If you want something better, than either find a job at a company who gives you the benefits you need or just opt out of the insurance Walmart offers and purchase your own insurance that is tailored to your needs.

Anyone run out of, or has heard anything, good or bad, from Mount Pleasant, Iowa? I just applied there, it's a stretch, but I'm within the 250 miles.

I get down there every once in awhile. Lots of seniority and I think fifteen 3 million mile trucks down there. Lots of Chicago and Illinois. Old stores too. Great people working down there though. I never mind going in there.
