Took me a few years to figure this out....said I would never own a trailer. Now I make an extra 12-16k per year with minimal investment.

BTW about 2.50 load price is where about I can average over 2.00. And there are plenty of loads averaging more than that....even when it is slow(kinda like now compared to other times)

Besides my load out of Houston the other day, which paid $2.10 gross, I've been in the 2.80 to 3.25 range this entire trip. Couldn't find an LTL to save my life with the Houston load. Here's a pic

I done a load for PKL and if you've done those you know they pay very well!!!! (Im on that now) it was 30ft I had an ltl pole that was 20ft coming to the same town in Arkansas out of Cleveland area. She asked could I pu and tarp a compressor also. Had to give up my LTL and agent understood.....I gotta find a load from dallas to MD that ive had for about a month paying 3700$ net on 13xx miles going to MD for Monday. FortyCal....you have any experience with conestoga or curtainside freight??

Edit: I meant I gotta find a load from southwest Arkansas to dallas area.....

Just seeing the loads on the board and wishing I had one. That and every time I have a 10' tall tarp load. Lol. My buddy's had a FBCS for about 9!years now running his own authority and he'll never go back. He swears by his Chameleon. I tested myself in 2014 and didn't run a single oversize to see what my numbers would look like and it turned out favorably. That's why I bought my SDLP last year, but my revenue was down like .40 a mile last year so no 20k tarp system for me right now.

Trust me when I say that Landstar offers so many ways to be profitable that it isn't funny. I know alot of BCO's here who have found nitch freight and make really good money. There are loads out there that actually pay $300,000 but you have to be set up for that nitch. A nitch that is expanding here is Wind Generator blade hauling. The big thing is you need to think outside the box and then have the gonads to invest in the equipment you need to supply the customer to move that nitch freight!

I bought a 53fl last year and have done very well with it..... I have been thinking about putting a conestoga on this winter.....

When I see loads that are FB curtainside......will they accept a conestoga?

Yes, normally here at Landstar Curtainside and conestoga mean the same thing. A 53 ft Conestoga is a good nich to get into as there isn't many here that size and there are loads out there that require a 53ft conestoga.

    jldilley Thanks this.
