You don't get paid to go home from wherever you are, unless you're under a load. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. Of course, when I go home, it's only 65 miles. Not sure how far you have had to go.

 

Ok. I get the first one. You didn't realize you should've gotten a message on the Qualcomm confirming it.

I'll say it again. If you submit your home time and do not receive a message confirming it within 24 hours, call in and ask whoever answers the phone if they see it in the system. If they don't, submit it again.

For your home time today, your home time doesn't start now until tomorrow. Don't know how many days you put in for, but you must be home by midnight (or end of shift) the day before. Example: I want July 30-August 1 off, so in order for July 30 to be counted as a day off, I have to be home by midnight on July 29. Don't let them try to tell you anything different. They WILL try. So basically, you add another day to your time off.

For your next home time, make sure to put in the day before you really need off to be sure if there is an issue, you have allowed for it.

I am truly sorry you are having all these issues. It does seem like they are piling on you. Have you thought about maybe teaming with someone a little more experienced until you get it a little more? That way you would have a set shift (of y'alls choosing) to drive.

 

I was absolutely miserable in training. I can't sleep in a moving vehicle.

 

Do you guys deliver to Americold in Belvidere, IL a lot? Christ I've been there four times and I swear every time I go I see 4-5 Abilene trucks sitting there and a ton of trailers.

Today was my last day with the company I'm with now so I won't be going there anymore but I have noticed this thread before then almost instantly started seeing Abilene trucks everywhere lol.

Really? I've never had this issue. I believe you RC but it seems that if you were still responsible for the truck you would be. All my opinion though.

 

That place kinda sucks. I'm glad I'll probably never haul reefer freight again in my life. Dry van (almost all drop and hook) for now and then equipment and step deck freight!

 

Another benefit of actually seeing friends and family while OTR. I have seen friends in KS and IL, mom, sister, and daughters in IL, daughter in GA.... Sometimes using Home Time and others are just lucky... Got a whole extra day going to Florida for a drop, stop off in Savannah to have dinner with my daughter....

Sure beats sitting in a Truck Stop!!!

Key is working hard every day and a good working relationship with your FM. Sometimes the rewards are awesome. And sometime you miss home time all together...
