    Ok.
So as you know by now, I took a forcible leave of absence this week.
Mrs BTG and I were on some rocks and well, a good man knows when to come take care of things.
I've been home for 3 days and I'm going nuts.

So now that her and I have worked through some issues, I'm in a dilemma.
    She's getting a 6 day a week job.
I have tentatively agreed to start a job on Monday.
$18/ hr, 40 per week, almost no ot off weekends.
That is $720 a week pre tax.
At Werner, doing 3 loads a week and 800 miles I make $1100 a week on dollar tree.
    Supposed to be off weekends.

    Now.
That being said, I have to give Werner credit.
They have been calling daily to check in on the situation.
I don't know why... but they appear to legitimately care about what's going on.

    The new boss is nice.
    Local Guy.
However I don't see the upside in coming home and working for less money driving the same type truck I used to.
I went to school and got my CDL A cause I wanted to move my driving career upwards.

Werner has been real bad about hometime.
    Real bad.
When I was on day 13 out this week on a home weekly account after doing 2 favors for the ops mgr, that's when I emptied the truck and took a loa.

So I'm torn. I know what you say about Werner, but I haven't had a good bite at home.
After a month of interviews and such, the offer I gave you is the only one who had offered me a home position.

    That's a serious pay cut.
Plus no dental at new company.
So now the question is, if I can get Werner to uphold their agreed hometime policies, I may want to go back.
3 loads a week isn't killing my body like 5/6 a week was.

The new ops Mgr was trying to work with me since those around him messed up. I was so frustrated I had to leave to show them I wasn't messing around any more.
I agreed to work on the account. I've been out here for almost 14 months now.
    Proven on time record.
    Don't screw with hometime.

Do I go back, or do I try new job?
I will be home nightly and off weekends, but at a loss of pay and benefits.
Mrs BTG wants me to be happy with pursuit of my dream, but wants my attitude to change.
Hometime is the reason I took the LOA.
If they agree to honor their policy, then what do I do?

How long did you tell Werner you'll be gone? If it's at least two weeks perhaps try the new job and see how you'll like it. Then you can make the best informed decision. If you go back to Werner now you will be left wondering what if I took the local job.

Told them however long it takes to get my fiance and I back on track.
With Werner on LOA I have 30 days before I have to rehire.
If they just honored their hometime policy, well, I wouldn't have had to show them I was no push over.
But like I've said, they've checked in daily to see how it's going. Not in a pushy way either. Just a checking in to see how your situation is going.
Almost lIke they cared or something lol

When you go back, things won't change. And then it will be back to the same crap at home too. Just my opinion. Things usually change for a few weeks and then, you know.

Where do you live? With 14 months experience you should be in pretty high demand? Have you had tickets or accident at Big Blue?

I completely disagree on just taking another job. Werner needs to honor there side that said they may or may not.

    There's no easy answers....

    " pay cut " ?
Ask yourself this ~ how much money do you spend in a week on the road for food and drinks , then asl the wife how much it costs to eat at home .
Unless you have a fridge and micro in the truck my guess is at least twice as much for less quality food . Subtract that ammount .
Now , add up every hour driving , unloading etc and divide that into the 1100 and see how close it is to 18 an hour .
Then ask yourself if you want more out of life than living in a truck .
As per me , what i wouldnt give to make 18 an hour and have a life ....

    15 miles north of Boston.
Keep in mind my commute to the coveted jobs can be 2+ hrs each way with traffic.
One non preventable and 2 minor incidents.
