Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

I'd like to be home for Christmas, but 18 years in the restaurant industry has inured me to working on literally any other holiday. Got something you need delivered on Thanksgiving? Easter? Fourth of July? Any other holiday that lots of people want to have off? I'll be your man.

 

That was in 2014. I don't know if they offered it last year or not. I assume they knew me well enough not to ask me again.

 

Not many choose it due to traffic restricting miles. I know a NE regional driver reasonably well and he does it so he can get more frequent hometime.

I kinda get the feeling he likes the pace of driving up there and would get bored on wide open highways.

I am supposed to be 48 state but I am in the NE near enough every week. I don't there is a shortage of NE loads at all.

 

You'll have to fight me for those holiday loads.

Just to clarify how training is going as of right now and I mean I'm currently in it... you pretty much run team from the get go. Although if you're just out of school you're not supposed to run nights for the first week and the trainer is supposed to keep more of an eye on you. Meaning the trainer gets messed up sleep for a while.

As for APU's, they're expensive and a company that keeps a constantly new fleet that 14k cost is unnecessary. It's been hot as #### during my last 1.5 weeks training and our 2017 KW has constantly idled and it's been arctic. Put in perspective, I'm hot natured already and my trainer is worse than me which was pretty impressive since I typically freeze everyone. When I'm so cold in the bunk going to bed that I need socks and a jacket that #### is freezing. But I'll take arctic rather than hot any day of the week.

 

I bet I like it colder than your trainer does.

You are spot on with the teaming. I wasn't expecting it but got through it anyway.

 

Was it loaded in a red bag and sleigh?
Don't think we have the trailer for deer.

The team aspect varies from trainer to trainer and trainee to trainee. Sometimes it works out well like JB and his newest trainee... Running team from day one... But with a different trainee that should wait.

My first trainer pulled that stuff... Grabbing a load while I was asleep and then slept in the seat while I drove... Not all the time but too much, in my opinion. The next trainer ran us as a Super Single... So we were both on the clock and the truck was rolling for 14 hours on and 10 hours off. After I was ready, then we started to run more towards team.

Sorry you were not allowed that same amount of attention before jumping to team.
