Prime is a mega, but do what you have to do. Your first training company isn't a lifetime commitment; only a few months.

They all have their own cdl school. That's the order I would place them in, but others may feel different. They all provide lodging and meals.

Unfortunately if your looking for a company sponsored CDL program, it's most likely going to be a larger company. Just try and get on with the "better" ones. Put your year in and move on.

Yeah I've been binging on trucking research the last couple days and a trend I'm noticing is "put in your time and it gets a lot better after a year." Lol. So even with the first year pay and paying back the CDL I could still take home around 6 to 8 hundred a week?

Should be able to. It will fluctuate some; just depends on the length of runs for any given week.

I think $600 a week is going to be on the low spectrum. Hopefully your first 6 months you will net $800-$1100 a week.
I know some company sponsored CDL programs take out money each week to pay back school. However JPT-Will Trans forgives the CDL tuition for a year commitment. When applying to company's, check out the specifics and talk to a recruiter. It will sometimes say something like "the cost of tuition will be paid back by future earnings"

    Doom Guy Thanks this.

That would be awesome to have the debt forgiven. I'm going to call a JPT recruiter asap and find out what the process is. I also checked out MCT and they don't seem too bad.. Guess I'm gonna do some more research! Also, from the sound of my situation, do you think this will be an ideal profession for me? I think I'm just going to do it for 2-3 years to get a cushion going and I don't have an issue being alone for long periods of time lol also I'd gwt ro see the country!

Awesome :) random question: do you still have A.C. if you have to sleep in the truck? I imagine it would be like an oven at some points if you didnt..

I would fill out an application this weekend, and then call them on Monday. The recruiters are out if the office on the weekends. I wonder if I can get referrals yet...probably not =p.

From what I have heard, it's definitely not for everyone. Stressful situations, long hours, #### money at the start etc.
Your situation sounds like mine, I'm doing away with my apartment. My only expenses are going to be OTR expenses, Phone, and health insurance, the rest of my money is going into savings. I plan to buy a house next summer, rent it to pay the morgage, and then pay it off in a couple of years. If you'd smart with your money, you can make some good things hapoen!
