I already went back to being local pulling a frameless again got tired of dealing with the idiots out here nowadays with their elogs and slow trucks riding the middle lane figured it was only a matter of time before I got popped being in the far left to pass them even though I was only doing the 70mph speed limit.Trucking has really gone downhill and only getting worse with all these regs and the people companies hire nowadays sure isn't like it use to be.

And this is why we have elogs. If the drivers of past would have just stuck ti the old rules and not decided to run illegal the trucking industry could have stuck it to the shipping/receiving companies so WE could control the rates and promptness of loading/unloading we would all be enjoying a better life. But nope there had to be rebels and look where its got us.

Aren't you local? The 16 hour rule, I use quite a bit.

It can only be used once every 6 days if your running recap.

A 34 hour reset, resets your 16 hour rule back to zero. Can't have any Dot violations since your last reset of in the last six days.

Have to be running under 100 air miles for the entire week prior.

The 16 hour rule extends your 14 hour clock. It does not extend your 11 hour drive clock.

Let's say today is X route.

Every day you do X route your done at a known time within the legal hours of service.

Then one day X route gets all screwed up and you can't make it back within 14 hours and under 11 hours driving.

16 hour rule comes in right here.

I annotate it on my log and haven't had any problems yet.

    I'm local, home every night.

Don't worry about it. Sometimes you get screwed like that when you're asked to drop or load at the end of the day. One time I pulled into some stupid paper mill in VA with a good 2+ hours left on my 14 thinking yeah Ill be fine. 5 hours later I've got the load on and paperwork released.

Yeah that's a bunch of nonsense. There has to be some room for common sense. Holding up business for minor logbook infractions...lol.

The real problem is that there are so many more trucks on the road today to meet shipping demands it was inevitable that the average quality of drivers would go down in order to keep butts in the seats. A lot these people need their hand held to stay out of trouble. That's where the elogs, mobile eyes, driver facing cameras, and other electronic tattle tale devices have come in. Back in the old days you push on the extra 12 miles and get the load off and then maybe get grouchy with somebody about it later but other than that life went on.

    #### the ATA!
&& #### the contributors of regulations to control the freedom of trucking by arbitrarily ruling the way we work.
