I had a place I backed into from 4 lanes of traffic in Santa Rosa during rush hour. It wasn't fun and I did do it pretty quick. Apparently just the idea of a truck trying to back into a place was enough that these two people got really impatient and pulled out at the same time and crashed right into each other. It was actually pretty funny because they got out and started yelling at eachother.
I hate backing off the street. It still grinds my gears when I see CR England pull into one of our yards because they try to hit the dock for over 30 minutes, I could only imagine one of those guys backing in off the street haha

weekly oregon stops, 4 x into driveway from 4 lane road, 2 x off hwy 99 to side street. 1 blindside back out onto 4 lane in Portland. 1 back across 2 lane city street.

Oregon car rules, if you can fit a car between the curb and the trailer you are good to go.

I had several stops in my FedEx days that required back in in off the street, especially on my route that I'd done for about 13 years. It was in the Nalley valley area of Tacoma, and fortunately for me, I almost always did that route with a 28' pup.
Some of the places I would go would show mercy to the OTR guys, and have flaggers assist in traffic control so the driver had a decent chance at getting in.

I spent a year running around southwest Chicago. The worst back off the street I had was backing into the Combined Warehouse near 47th and Central. Sure there were tighter, more difficult docks to get into, but having to try to time the lights at 51st and 47th and backing off a six lane arterial was its own special type of fun.

I go to a few where you can pull in one entrance and come out another, but all it takes is one idiot parked in the wrong place to cause a problem.

I know that hardware store. I'd be requesting a pup trailer!

I was looking at that. Is the bridge you have to go under narrow?

Here's one of my favorites from my old route. They were a regular too. In order to have any chance of getting backed in there you have to time the light at Pike Ridge Rd, and if the traffic is heavy enough you STILL can't do it because the traffic sitting at the light just north of there will still be sitting in front of the entrance. :banghead:
