I made my learning curve at Swift. Like a lot of things you'll hear here (!) it wasn't that bad. If you think "known for being evil or shady" is completely accurate, think again. A driver is often not willing to accept or admit fault, so tries to place blame on others. You'll hear that.

So, Swift had a terminal 1/2 hr from my primary residence, and put me in a truck, so I went with them. One thing to remember is that the insurance companies have a lot of weight, and if their parameters don't accept certain items, like a suspension, then they'll shoot you down. The mega carriers are big enough to insure themselves, so while their standards aren't necessarily lower, they are often more flexible. It depends. I'd like to see you get rolling, you've already got a lot going on and a good level, steady income would really get you off to a great start.

Anyway, keep on pushing, you'll get there. Best

Thank you for the words of encouragement! Yeah I think I might go for one of the mega's like Prime or Swift if I get denied by all the smaller ones. I'm gonna keep at it. Worst case scenario I can do it in 2 years. Grand scheme that's not too long.

Suspension in 2013 and reinstatement in 2014 was enough to stop the entire process. Pretty bummed out cause I really wanted to do this.. but hey I can reapply in a year and a half.

There are none. in truth it is what you make it. If you accept a company and their culture at face value and learn to work within that culture, then you won't have an issue. Some of those who complain about this one or that don't get that for every one person complaining, there may be eight or nine or even a hundred who is happy with the company.

    Cost to drive?

There is no costs that you bare, it is on the company. Living costs can range from $15 a day to $100 a day, so yep you can bank money without a problem.

No problem with that, I've got a driver 6'7" and he fits the truck without any real issues or he say there is no issues.

Some times you get dogs, sometimes you get a good truck, it doesn't matter.

    Yes.

Yeah don't unless you want to turn it into a profession.

No offense given but I think that we need to look at why we have so many bad experiences with drivers who get screwed, maybe we need a true driver shortage and that would mean trying to convince others not to come into this. TOO many treat this as a job and it hurts all of us.
