It still has a separate brake and throw out bearing. Those are separate parts from the clutch.

Another thing to keep in mind since funds are tight, you can rent a tranny jack and change the clutch yourself if it comes down to it. If my skinny ### can do one no reason you can't. Only thing you really need besides the jack is a halfass flat level pad to work on, and if you don't have that, a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood works.

Also since you won't be keeping the truck more than a few years, i wouldn't worry about the fly wheel surface unless it's really bad. I've changed clutches and didn't resurface the flywheel. All it will do is make the clutch wear a little faster so instead of a million plus you might be looking at 750k miles of life expectancy out of the new clutch. By then that truck is someone else's problem so save the money.

Somebody without a biased $$$$ interest in doing a clutch job looked it over with me this morning. Diagnosis, drive it. Will probably be fine for a long while. Now it *might* break something and start slipping next week. But I'm not going to worry about it until it does. My linkage is worn out and needs replacing. That will take all the slop out of my clutch brake so that's a priority the next week I lay out of work. The clutch brake itself is fine, just not reaching because of the slop.

Told ya. Could go 5 more years and never get bad. Or could go a week. Just set the money aside just on case, so you don't get caught with your pants down.

Or, this is just the beginning and another piece will break off, get wedged, no clutch at all and your loaded. I was lucky, I was empty when this same thing happened to me and dead headed home 600 miles to get a new clutch. $2,250 later and I was rolling again. Double that if your on the road and at the mercy of whoever!
