I keep that sig pic just for the haters like him.
Its a working truck. It has over 1.3 millions miles on it. Its paid for itself many times over. I put money in the truck, where I feel I will get the most return. Painting the hood gives zero return. So there is pretty much zero chance I will ever do more than sand it down and redo another coat of Krylon Satin black.

By your math,.. I think you are saving a bit more than the 'average driver' $5000 a yr award.
I did not make my number up or try to exaggerate it in order to justify buying the generator. Its real world numbers and real world costs and savings.
Unless you have an efficient generator to compare the before and after costs,.. they honestly can not accurately compare the numbers.
And,. as fuel prices increase,.. the cost savings will increase as well. I know how much I spent in fuel from 2013 - 2014. $3300 a week was a good week.
I had a rough idea what I wanted to do back then. But it took me a long time before I decided which generator to buy and how to set it up. Not perfect,.. and still toying with the idea of doing an indoor upright AC or a roof mount in my next truck.

I think it's impossible to nail down a hard figure on the savings and roi but the savings vs idleing the truck is unquestionable .

Exactly,.. and this is why those who have added an APU or generator, usually did so because they wanted to save money over the long run and felt they would see a return on their investment. The only way to know if you saved anything is to take account of your costs before,. and then after.
We would not have done it with out wanting to know what the reward was after it was complete.
As you said,.. its unquestionable. If I had exaggerated or pulled out a BS number,.. you and others would have called me out on it immediately.

Its not that I dont like a nice shiny truck. I am in the market for a 379 after all.
But this truck is a Columbia. There is only so much polish you can put on a turd.
