Well, my final stage of truck driving school begins this afternoon. I have to do a 3 hour night drive and then, unless something drastic changes, I'll test out tomorrow afternoon. Allowing for time to finish all the applicable paperwork I should have my CDL in hand sometime Wednesday.
Got to say after two and a half weeks doing my road hours my backing was pretty rusty, but I'm going in a few hours before my night drive tonight to practice and then whatever time I have tomorrow before my test will also be used on the range.
Nerves are a little tense right now. Kind of feels a bit like I remember from my ball playing days. Of course after the first pitch or snap that all went away.Big Don Thanks this. -

Welcome to the world of "truckin'"Broke Down 69 Thanks this. -
Well, I am pleased to inform all who care to know that after driving through some sort of unannounced hurricane for three hours last night and somehow or another managing to pull off the most rudimentary trailer control maneuvers and pre-tripping and driving for a road test a truck I had never seen nor driven before...I passed all my tests (92.2 overall average for all class work, field work, road work and tests...yeah I'm crowing just a bit) and tomorrow morning I will be returning to the scene of my previously documented public meltdown, you can read about that here if you haven't drifted across it http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...at-the-nc-dmv-trying-to-get-my-cdl-lp.318846/ to hand the state of North Carolina a stack of money in exchange for a piece of plastic that will allow me to join the exalted ranks of the Over The Road Brotherhood. I have to admit being just a bit relieved as yesterday I couldn't have drove my boot up a mules butt with directions written on my heel but sometime during a fitful night's sleep I pulled an Austin Powers and found my Mojo. After obtaining that new license I'll just be waiting on my WIOA mileage reimbursement to tide me over cash wise for a couple of weeks while I go through orientation and training at Trans Am.
On a personal note, or at least as personal as one can be on a more or less anonymous forum, I'd like to thank everyone who has offered encouragement or advice to me as I've been going through the uncertainties and trials of school and training. I can't begin to list everyone because there have been so many and I don't want to leave anyone out, but to all who have helped, thank you very much.MrWaaaH, austinmike, SidewaysBentHalo and 3 others Thank this. -
