My new, final resting place

Another day sitting outside the Sunny Delight drop lot near Atlanta. I am still waiting to pick up my SATURDAY load and it's Tuesday. But I have an even bigger problem.

    Ants.

I woke up after a fitful night of sleep and found a whole lot of the tiny critters in the front of my cab. It seems I parked close enough to the trees and dirt to be an invitation to the hoards of little things. So I spent some time squishing and cleaning and cleaning and squishing.

Why go to all that trouble, you ask? Well, it's simple. Our company is food-grade and the new food safety rules really look down on crawling things anywhere on the rig. And my company has had to fumigate a bunch of trucks at out McDonough terminal because of ants.

Wait. I'm southwest of Atlanta and MxDonough is southeast...maybe "ants" is a Southern problem, what with all this heat and humidity.

Not fire ants. Just the irritating small ones that love the heat and humidity of the South.

Does WEL have E-ZPass and Prepass?

They provide EZPass on company trucks (I don't know about lease or O/O) but not PrePass. You can send in a form and pay $17.65 a month if you choose; I do and our scores are good enough that I rarely get pulled into an open scale. They might even reimburse me for half if I asked, but I would have to provide a copy of the receipt. Since I do it all online and am only home every couple of months, it's not worth the hassle.

To me, it's well worth the money to pay and bypass that long line of trucks waiting for their contact with law enforcement!

Kahlua and 88 Alpha Thank this.

Seems like WEL is looking at making a profit off the prepass on the drivers too... What a shame

It's not WEL selling them; all they do is keep the applications on hand. I deal directly with PrePass so maybe they raised the rates and yours are less. It's still worth it.

    Kahlua Thanks this.
