I've heard the Van freight at Mercer is pretty thin compared to Landstar...don't know how true it is though

Strongly disagree. I'm not saying you are stupid to not get a flat or anything like that. Just saying that it is not nearly as hard as some like to make it out to be, so don't let ideas like "im too old, i got a bad shoulder, etc" keep ya from doing it.

I got no problem with guys that are happy with the money they make pulling a van or reefer. I have a problem with guys that make excuses(even going so far as to lie to themselves) as to why they can't do something. Be it pulling a flat or anything else in trucking such as the guy that claims he can't get better fuel mileage going 60 instead of his normal 75.

@RStewart i don't want to hijack the thread so short quick answer, 1.80 to 2.00 TTT a mile on 2500 miles in a 5day work week is fairly easy to achieve week in and week out, in most markets.

If that's the case, why are some saying freight is horrible over there? Those are some of the rates I had seen

Flatbed is a whole different market, my #1 requirement is hometime, and being able to book it when I want.
