I was just being funny. I'm anticipating the amp draw won't be more than 35 to 40 amps, according to the spec sheet. The run will probably be less than ten feet to the batteries so I went with some 6ga cable from a car audio shop. I will verify the amp draw after it's up and running and run bigger cable if I have to.

Precisely why I use 2ga welding cable.
Fine stranded and really flexible with a neoprene jacket which is much nicer than audio cable with vinyl jacket

One other aspect that influenced my decision on power cable... I won't be participating in the "Superbowl". In fact, I'll probably never crank it wide open.

I'll be like an old dude idling along in a Z06.

Sitting here in the dock, getting loaded. I decided to get the radio out of the box and scout for potential mounting locations. The first place I thought of was the little fold out drawer in front of the shifter (Columbia). Nope... radio is too big.

    Another couple of things...

    1) It's heavy--#### heavy! Mounting it to plastic panels is not going to work.

    2) Thanks to my high performance dog food to fur conversion system (pictured below), I will have to make a filtered enclosure for it. 2016-08-05 15.22.24.jpg

be sure to allow plenty of air flow into the enclosure. On a real hot summer day the cooling fans on mine will kick on even with the radio off. I re-routed one of the ac ducts into the enclosure that I have my radios mounted in for a little help to keep them cool.

I'll put my ammeter on it after it's hooked up to see exactly what it draws. And I'll probably do that before I string the cable in case I need to go bigger.

Better to have bigger n better cable than to have to small..Your a man so your gonna at some point be in the mood to "GIVE IT TO ERR" and crank it..Its in every mans genes to just try it once......We did it with parents cars, your 1st car, peddle bike, women what ever..Better to have to much than not enough..
