I hardly ever use A/C. I was actually considering not putting it back on my W900 (but the truck looks cooler with the roof A/C so its getting put back on).
AC not working, is there a DOT regulation about this?

In today's trucks, the defroster works via the a/c system so yes, the a/c must work. Also, you've heard the ultimate D.O.T. goto rule, if it's on the truck, it MUST work.
superflow Thanks this. -
The defroster has absolutely NOTHING to do with the a/c. Unplug your compressor. The defroster will still work.
The compressor is wired in to the defroster so that it's get used to keep itself lubricated during the winter months when it's not needed. It DON'T stop the defroster from going in to defrost mode when the knob is selected to defrost.
BTW. i don't think any of us have had our a/c included as part of a level inspection. I've certainly never been asked to turn my fan on.Last edited: Aug 10, 2016

A/C is not safety related. Period. It does NOT have to work.
