Wow, that's backwards from how it was!

 

Yeah, but now they are setting themselves up for the possibility of getting back a whole bunch of 2017s within a year from guys who can't make it. Idk

 

With rates dropping like they are seems to me it would be a little difficult to do 3 years.

 

God bless those who signing 3 year leases at this point.. I'm glad on my last year..I would rather work for a reputable company before I lease another new truck

 

It has changed, when I was in orientation, 1 guy put zero down on a 16 with 30k, and another put down $5k on a 16 with 30k. Virtutally the same truck lol

Another guy put $7k on a new Pete and I put down $2k on a new 17. I guess I should've pushed zero down but I thought we had to put down something. I originally negotiated zero down on a 16 with a 1 year lease. I wanted to get a new truck after the 1 year lease was up, but my rep came back and offered the new deal.

If I had any idea of what I had to put up with with this mitigation system, I would do the 1 yr deal and buy my own next summer. I will never lease another truck through SFI because of it.

 

Then they should've never offered them...frankly I think the one year deal they had was optimal because it gave the driver a chance to test out the program to see if they wanted to do it long-term or not...it looks like they're trying to punish people for not committing long term...smh

 

Can I ask, what is the mitigation system you refer to?

I look at like this, if I lease from SFI and it isn't a good fit, there is nothing to prevent me from taking out a loan out and purchasing the truck and going wherever I like. The truck price is competitive and the total cost to own is virtually the same as if you buy your truck yourself and get a loan. So there are options available if you don't like SNI and want to go somewhere else.

 

I assume he is referring to the OnGuard lane departure and crash mitigation system. There are basically a few sensors that alert and/or reduce throttle and apply brakes to avoid the "crash". I have never used such system, but have heard a lot of bad about them.

 

This right here and potential new tax bracket we could be subject to next year depending on who gets elected is exactly why I'll be turning my truck in when my lease is over.
