Dartco Inc. will probably hire you. They have their own in-house training program for drivers that already have a cdl.

Check Craigslist for local or home weekends jobs.

I don't really want another local job. If I'm going to leave the one I have I would at least like to get something new to put on my resume. I always wanted to give OTR a shot and I'm in a good of a spot as I ever will be. Last time the woman I was seeing convinced me to take the local job I'm working. But now I'm single, my lease is ending in a few months and I don't have much family around here anymore. Most of them had to move out of state a couple years ago when the economy tanked. There are a couple friends I'll miss but they are old friends and will still be here when I get back.

I looked at Jim Palmer and they look like they have pretty much the same deal as Prime. What kind of work do they do? I think I'd be more comfortable with flatbed because I already have experience there and if I do come back to local in a year or two it's just more relevant to the jobs I see myself taking in the future.

I might try to get ahold of the prime recruiter one more time but honestly I'm getting tired of calling. The prime recruiter allegedly works Saturdays but if they were going to return one of my messages from earlier in the week I'm sure it would have happened by now. I think I'll call some other companies next week.

Jim Palmer Trucking is a 48 state refrigerated outfit.
    Trekker Logistics has flatbed division.
Jones Bros. Trucking is flatbed and has enhanced training.

Try calling at 7am cst right when they get in, the recruiters are notoriously difficult to get ahold of. I got all my stuff taken care of in a couple of days but that was 2 years ago.

I would take the comments in this thread from people that don't drive for prime with a grain of salt...

The problem is, the OP is being ignored. Time to move on.

Otto, move out here to Las Vegas when you can. It's summertime year round and plenty of good trucking jobs.
A&R Logistics has a terminal there; check their website. They hire with 6 months experience. Plenty of other good outfits hire from Las Vegas, including Jim Palmer and the others I listed.
No personal income taxes in Nevada.

Chinatown certainly provides a valuable service to the forums with his encyclopedic knowledge of trucking companies, and to say it's been two weeks it's time to move on is a fair assessment.

I have no investment if Otto works for Prime or not, but if he has a strong desire to a little persistence might be in order. I just suggested that he should be skeptical about comments about Prime from people that don't work there.

Large orientation classes = being pushed through like cattle? Training is one on one and I imagine not too different than Palmers.

Really that comment was more towards the "Prime has no redeeming qualities" post though, which is laughable. It's certainly not for everyone, but it's a solid company that has treated me well.

I run company team on the reefer side with the wife, and we pull down around 4k a week which is pretty competitive with any company I've seen, especially otr. I had a solid training experience, and have always been treated well by our office folks. My dispatcher/fm has always done me right, and believe it or not he actually recognizes me if I head into the office, ha.

@mem - I certainly wish all drivers had your experience with their first company. Wouldn't be much turnover.
