Easy load to tarp.. Loaded in North Carolina and then had to lift em up for a pickup in Ohio. I've never been so wet from sweating and I'm in good shape!

I think I'm one of the few drivers out there who enjoys tarping.

    Must be the hourly wage.

We get paid well for tarping and I enjoy it. Always take pride in how well it looks!

Try heavy AF square tarps with no flaps that've been crunched up into a mess, you don't know where it begins or ends, and you need to climb on top of your load which is parked in a building that stores all the heat at the top including in the summer and you find yourself tripping over the load itself nearly not able to physically handle the HEAVY tarps.

Oh, and it's impossible to make those tarps look any good on the load too. How 'bout it?

What's the rate your company pays? Mine is $25, $30 for steel, $40 for over-dimensional (all firsts, seconds add $10-15). I'm just trying to gauge industry average. Not that I plan on going back out on the road any time soon, just for comparison sake.

I'll tell you what mine is. It's 'not worth it'.

Sure. But only for an hourly rate. :p

Our tarp shed is actually worse for heat in the winter. All the heaters are on the ceiling, and standing on a 14' high bale load, rolling out tarps, when they are on is brutal. It's a good sweat no doubt, but not something I'm looking for at -30C outside.

That's what I hear a lot of from guys in our company and others.

Searcy pays $30 for a drop and $50 for an un-tarp (I can't imagine the loading/tarping/multi-drop pay is). If I were still doing highway driving and looking for more money, that would definitely be a company I would consider. That's competitive rates to be sure.

Granted, they drive auto Volvo's and are pretty much owned and operated by Bison now... so I'm happy where I am.

Maybe being on percentage would make me happier with it. As long as the company I drive for doesn't throw in tarping for free.

It depends on what trailer were pinned up to. If it's a curtain/roll tite we get $20 to open/close it.

For trains it's $60 I think and tandems its 35/40. For quads I don't remember lol. I'll say 50? We don't usually have silly loads to tarp so it's not bad at all to throw them.

Some loads we have to double tarp. Throw lumber tarps on top and then our steel tarps or vice versa. That's about as ugly as it gets.
