Even though I agree with you on him being a dick, you should not fight fire with fire on our roads. You should just back off because you're not going to gain that far ahead anyway.A slow truck passing a slow trk thats alot of work, lol.

Not me. I have pulled out in front of someone before, but only after being stuck behind a truck doing 10-15 below the posted limit and only after I have been trapped for several miles. Even then, I don't just jerk it over. I wait until there is space, even if the driver is going faster, use my signal, then get the heck out of his was as fast as possible. I know some drivers get upset with that, but I try to keep an eye open for those in that situation to let them get over and down the road, so it evens out I suppose.

Now, if its that little difference in the trucks speed, but the fellas in the left lane are whipping down the road, I stay out of their way until its clear and then creep on past.

I hear that. Whenever I see it getting jammed up I will back out of it and wait, even if I could pass everyone involved. I then start looking for "outs" in the event things get bad and something happens. It just isn't worth the risk for me to be swaying with another 5-10 trucks in the wind hoping we don't hit one another.

Good point. Why pass someone only to do the same speed...or slower(I really don't understand that one)? Get around and get on down the road.

Oh. Well, that makes things a little different. I see folks passing me in California all the time. Sure, I could drive faster, but I can't afford the ticket, so I creep along between 55-57, depending on the circumstances, and let them go. I always wonder why they go so fast when they know CHP is just around the corner.

Years ago I was in California letting gravity do its job on a hill. It was night and raining. Then I heard on the CB, "This is the Highway Patrol at the bottom of the mountain. If you make me get wet, you are getting a big ticket. Slow down." Everyone slowed down, he was there as promised, didn't give any tickets. That's the first time I realized they hate the weather as much as we do so I give them as little reason as possible to get out, get mad at me and give me a ticket.

Welcome to trucking, I'm in a 62 mph truck, where's the slow cars at?
I do slow down even when a 65 mph truck passes me on flat ground.
    ,
I was northbound on I-55 below Bloomington, IL, it took 8, yes EIGHT MILES for JB Hunt to pass me, when I took the ramp to I-39 and he stayed on I-55 he was maybe 100 feet ahead of me.
    .
And on hilly terrain, the governed speed doesn't really matter. Slow trucks are able to pass way faster trucks. Hills are magical.
    .
But on flat ground, if you're behind a slightly slower vehicle, you have to know...you have to know...

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Not usually if it is actually 1mph. But if they start slowing down by 3-4mph on every hill I'm going around. Of course I'm local and get paid hourly so I don't have as much incentive to speed as cpm guys are.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I'm in a 62 mph truck and I run under the governed speed. Some of the slowest people to pass are the 65+ trucks because they fricken slow down when they pass. Walmart , FedEx, UPS, Conway, etc will slow down and match speed for a while waiting for the signal that it's OK to pass... I'm not weaving around or doing anything spooky either, wth.

    Left lanes are for passing.
