It's been a while since I've posted here, and am pleased to see a Maine thread. I read about driving schools, and didn't see any reference to ProDrive in Scarborough. I visited NTI in Scarborough and Region 5 in Mexico (not Rumford) then stopped by ProDrive in Scarborough. NTI and Region 5 both had class size of about 20, and quite frankly had the appearance of a prison work release program. ProDrive on the other hand is small, and focuses on individual attention. Because they offer rolling admision, classroom size ranged from 2-5 people. When it came time for the range practice time, ALL time behind the wheel was one on one. It's my understanding that the other schools put you in a truck with other students. In terms of cost, Region 5 was cheapest, then ProDrive, and the most expensive was NTI.

As for training companies hiring in Maine, when I started less than 2 years ago, FFE was hiring, as were others mentioned. I went with Roehl and had excellent training, but left before they shut down Groveton, NH. This spring I landed a part time local job, and am well pleased with it. I'm semi retired, and have found this line of work to be suitable for my needs.
BTW, Wolding still runs Maine. They haul bottled water out of Poland Springs, and back hauls to Maine are generally to Hannaford in S. Portland.

    Best wishes to you all..

I just finished my first week at NTI in Scarborough. When I talked with admissions, they said the class would be about 15 people. However, the number they give you is actually the combined students of the fulltime and part-time (weekend) students. My class has 6 students including myself in it. Only 1 didn't show up, making the total that signed up for our class only 7 people. We will have our own trucks and instructors when we go to the yard starting wednesday afternoon.

I think they tell you the maximum that they will accept per class, but I don't think they get that many most of the time. The first week of class was excellent training. Those that attended, the instructor is Joe still, if anyone knows him. :)

Well its region 9 :biggrin_25525: Id pick another school thought i like the price on this one free:yes2557: so ill deal with it and get through it. Ill post updates on here or ill make a new thread if someone is looking for region 9 information specificaly.

Anyway i am a bit unimpressed because the guy who i am suppose to talk to takes forever to call you back, even his emergency line:biggrin_25515: The web page is confusing says i need a class B first before A and each is 20 weeks. So i am a tab confused on how they do there stuff.

    Hey Milestogo,
Great post, thanks for answering my question on my very first post of this tread, I wanted to go with Wolding out of school, but I'm in the Bangor area, and Wolding doesn't hire North of Augusta. Nor does Roehl for that matter. So I'm still looking. Thanks again for the post.

Well if they do not hire anything past augusta, i would hope they would make a exception people not living far out side augusta. I guess i just dont like the thought of another trucking company out of my reach:biggrin_25517:
