Dude, you know who controls this truck? Me. Not someone back in an office in Richmond. As a 38 year safe driver, I got here one way, by listening to myself, not someone on the other end of the phone or QC. As a trainer here, what I say goes, not what someone in an office says. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but if you were in my truck and we're tired, the truck would stop. I don't run this truck in any unsafe manner. I promise my wife every time I leave her that I will be home under my own power, not in a box. My problem? I've been out here to long to put priority on the freight instead of myself.

With that being said, we as trainers do have a schedule to meet, if you as a trainee is taking too long, then we get back to Richmond and sit down with the training department to see what can be done to get you up to speed. It can be switching of trainers up to being let go.

I love my life, I love my family, there isn't a thing in this world I put before them, especially this job and training.

Very important... And once you develop that skill then things roll smoother... Just simply grabbing a quick power nap will help for several hours... If you can do that well, then that replaces the need for a lot of coffee and energy drinks.

    JohnBoy Thanks this.

According to the trainer manual, a trainee should start out as a Super Solo. What this means, is a trainee drives what they feel they can handle, and the trainer drives the remainder of a 14 hour shift. I personally use this time to evaluate a new trainee's driving skill, and to pass on valuable information needed by the trainee learning to handle the job.
Team driving helps to build and gauge stamina, but I agree, it should not be done until the trainee has demonstrated the ability to operate the truck safely.
I am sorry you feel this way, but in the end, you must do what you feel is right. Not all trainers are in the training game to make the extra money, some of us like to help new guys along. That said, every company, every department, no matter where you go, will have people who do things differently. Do I have to do as they do? No. Do I have to agree with it? No. As Johnboy said, I am in control of my truck, and noone will force me to allow someone to drive it on their own, without my oversight, if I don't feel they can do the job. Period. I have a family to go home to. Anyone who would like to try to force THAT hand may find their hand holding a set of keys. :) ;)

I'll try and find a Bio-phone that still works for you.

There are a lot of companies who will get you home weekly for a lot more CPM than that.

Really. What companies have O/O spec'd auto shift trucks that offer no touch freight for more than .38 cpm?

I'd LOVE to hear about them.

Since you've popped in and told us how you feel, does this mean you won't be sending in your app? And, you don't think everyone makes .38 a mile do you?

Are they all willing to make sure that you get home no matter what in an emergency? Do they pay loaded and empty miles? Do they strive to make sure you, as a driver are happy? Do they keep up with maintenance on their equipment? Do they only buy owner operator spec'd equipment for company drivers to drive? Do the company owners know the driver by name, and not just a number? And most importantly, do they give you the miles to make it all worth it? CPM is by no means an indicator to a good company to work for. Some companies advertise .52 per mile. Why are they hiring if CPM is the only way to judge a company? Low miles? Horrible business pratices? I will stay where I am. That said, if you are only here to troll, you are welcome to find your way out again. We happen to be happy here most of the time.
