What the alternative? It's not bad but it's 2 lane with hills and traffic

    jethro712 Thanks this.

It's not exactly the Ohio turnpike but a whole lot better than it was 30 years ago .

I wish I had $10 for every time I ran between Alma and Fayetteville before the big road was completed.

No power, no torque, and no engine brake.

I've run that before grossing close to 80K. I would describe it as "fun". Alternatives include more miles and time. Adjust your attitude and enjoy.

    jethro712 and bzinger Thank this.

Can't remember where it was but ages ago there used to be a sign on 71 that said " such and such number of people have died on this road , do you want to be next ?"

@STexan Yep kinda remember what that road was like in the 70s and 80s. Drove outa Chickendale those years and that road was a nightmare for many drivers especially during the winter months. (ice) There were many roll overs trying to get over Boston Mt. north or south bound. ( JB Hunts driving test);)

I got passed by a French Canadian headed west and he wanted to know where the mountaaaaiins and the snow started .
I said you got long ways to go before that will be a worry lol

That was in the northern part of Arkansas.
Where 71 came into the Springdale, bentonville area.
They would post the body count for the year at the top
Of one of those steep grades with 15 mph turns
    On it.
    540 wasn't even started then.
    Dam, where getting old.
