They are all decent and will get the job done. All of them have G-sensors that react erroneously to rough bridge crossings and pot holes. I liked the Cobra CDR 800 although if you're also wanting to use it for trip recordings, it tends to over-do the color making the skies and greenery an unnatural color, but otherwise pretty sharp. I had hoped they would issue an update to correct the over-saturation of color but they did not. Company now has forward cams in the trucks so I only use a GoPro for scenic trip recordings and have put the Cobra in the drawer for now.

The Cobra is small enough to mount upside down in behind the GPS in the upper left corner windshield of my Freightliner for easy access to reach the "event record" button

They're using "smart drive". It's only available to fleets I think.

I use the Garmin 30 but I have ordered the Garmin 770 with camera included. I will give you an update when it gets here.

Thanks, Northern Mechanic, but I would like a dash cam to have sound, too. Especially, if there are sounds like sirens, horn blowing, yelling, etc. (or gunshots :D).

    Whiteline64 Thanks this.

I wouldn't buy one at a Truckstop unless I had enough points saved up. So I don't have to use any real money.

    Dashcams with no sound seriously?
I usually cut sound when I post a video somewhere but to not have any.

    Whiteline64 Thanks this.

Old cell phone and one of the numerous free apps. Sound, shock sensor and very easy upload to the web.

I have used several different dash cams over the last few years trying to find the best one. I was never satisfied for one reason or another, usually because they didn't record as well as I'd like them to, or the memory card wouldn't last with them, or I couldn't easily review the videos, etc:
About a year ago my son bought a four camera system from Falconeye for his truck. He has been totally satisfied with it, so several months ago I bought a two camera system for myself. So far, it has worked flawlessly.
I am including the link for the system I bought, but you may want to look through their site at their other systems. They have some nice systems for owner operators. I hope this helps.

One of the problems with the falcon eye is the outside camera mounts suck. They are as cheap as can be and have no adjustments at all. Side to side or up and down

    image.jpg

The included mounting hardware is 2 faced tape........

Also the power cord that comes with the camera is a cigarette lighter plug..... You have to buy a hard wire power lead that's extra.....

It's my first dash cam so I've got nothing to compare it to.......

I've got the KDLinks X1 and I've been completely happy with it. I've got a 64gb SD card in it, which allows it to record something like 9 hours of video. As stated in an earlier post, it loops so that after 9 hours it starts recording over the first. You can save a video simply by pressing one button on it at the time of recording. Image is excellent. Shows your speed (or you can turn it off), and with the included software, will show your location on a map while you're watching the video. It's been a great cam, so far.
