I have done more backing this past 2 weeks than I normally do. Something about backing on swamp mats and praying you don't back off them, makes one worry more.
Backing across road ways and hoping the flaggers are doing their job as well

As long as you're not like this driver, although I doubt anyone on this forum is.

It reminds me of a freight hauler in Kentucky a few years ago, there's a Flying J on I65 just before Tennessee I think, I know it's east of the interstate and has a big parking lot. We shut down there for the night I had a 4100 house on and the other driver had a legal load, he went in ahead of me to check out the parking. He radioed and said there was plenty just hold up a minute there was a freight box backing in then come on. So I sat and I sat and I sat, leg got tired so I put it in neutral and waited. Finally after what seemed like an eternity I hollered on the CB to see what the heck was going on, my buddy said hold on he's still backing in. Finally after a long wait he said come on, I drove around the end and there was the mega white Volvo setting across about eight spots pointing back at me. There were literally 15 or more empty spots in a row and he was trying to "blindside" into one and ended up pointing he opposite direction. It honestly took him ten minutes to get to that point. I've seen several good ones but that one has always stuck out to me. I don't spend much time in truck stops luckily.

I feel like my IQ just dropped 50 points after watching that....:eek:

I sat in the street at Delaware Elevator in Salisbury for 15 minutes watching a similar idiot trying to blindside into their dock.

I was only there to pick up 2 skids so they loaded me in the street after he finally got positioned taking up the entire dock area.
