Do you realize that trucking is one the most regulated industries in America? After all you have been through and you want to subject yourself to the most intense scrutiny of all DOT sensitive transportation jobs...

You must realize that they will require your consent to give them permission to obtain your medical records, MVR, your credit report, a criminal background check, a drug test ( including hair fibers) before they will process your application at the trucking school.....and usually that disqualifies the driver before the process of training. They will go back ten years and verify all past employers and times being unemployed.

Refusal to consent automatically disqualified you as an applicant.

Companies only go back 3 yrs. on employment history, unless you worked as a CDL driver, then it's 10 yrs. A few go back further, but not many.
Very few companies do a credit check; Prime, Maverick, and a few others.
Hair follicle test is done by only a few companies such as Pride Transport, Werner, etc. The companies the OP will apply with only do urine test.
Ex-cons can attend trucking school as long as they get pre-hire letters from 1 or 2 companies. Depending on the crimes committed, ex-cons can get TWIC and hazmat endorsement. Dozens of drivers on this forum were released from prison then immediately enrolled in cdl school and went to work at graduation. Several of them did 15 or 25 yrs. in prison for many types of crimes such as murder, bank robbery, drugs, etc.
The OP will do fine if he doesn't overthink every detail.
