SO NO TARPING FOR ME
-
thundermunky, the cold isn't a problem at all. The heat is a problem, though. If I had picked up this load when I first started out, I'd probably be lying on the ground until Monday morning when they came back to work. Luckily, I've gotten more efficient, and even though the side of the tarp that was in the sun would literally burn me like scalding water, it didn't take amazingly long to do. NOAA says it was 103.5. Truck said it was 132-135.

The worst one I personally deal with is GP out of Hosford, FL. That is just miserable. Heat, humidity, and bugs. It requires a tarp every time. Got me a local job lined up though, so no more of that for me.

No tarping for me, I pull a curtainside.

love to have info on roehl Trucking school.
1) HOW ARE THE SLEEPING AREAS.(PRIVATE ROOMS,DOUBLES?)
2) LIVING AREAS CLEAN. ALL IN ALL IS IT A NICE PLACE TO LIVE OR A HOLE IN THE WALL.
3) HOW IS THE SCHOOL AND THE TRAINING ON THE ROAD FOR A NON SMOKER? (CAN YOU GET A REAL NON SMOKER AS A TRAINER ON THE ROAD) -
Want to thank all who wrote here. I try to just read and learn. Drove for Central Reefer training for 2 months OTR and had to quit for family reasons... now 4 years later, I want to drive and am looking all over. Never even considered Roehl until reading this. Looks good, better than most. Liked TMC as well until reading about forced dispatch, illegal logs... not cool. I'm 57 yo and need good ft work. This company looks better than most. School (AIT) in Phx. suggested I go with Swift. lol. Think not. Beginning to wonder if they get a kickback from Swift. lol Anyway, thanks to all who have taken to time here.

They put you in a motel, very good accomodations, nothing to worry about there. Not a hole.
I requested a non-smoker but specified that I would compromise in case there were no trainers available. I lucked out, all were non-smokers except one who chewed tobacco. But I had five trainers so I made out there, no bad smell early in the morning.
This is the company to go to right out of school, or if you want better home time.

I just got back from orientation in Marshfield, WI. I thought it was really good for someone with no expirience. The room/hotel was nice and clean and the food was filling, no great but not bad. They give you a coupon for perkins for dinner. I for one am happy to be joining and again for a non expirienced person I think I am going to get a great deal out of this company.bobfiore Thanks this.
