Where can you park your Truck when you home on Chicago
-
Gary yard or, depending how far from Gary in the nearest truck stop....(or private parking with Maverick approval)
-
Thanks a lot rerm .I live in West Chicagoland so maybe I will be able to park the truck at a Walmart or home Depot there is no truck stop close to me

i just graduated with my cdl a couple months ago but had to hold off on getting with a company for family reasons but i was wondering if i would have to take a refresher course with maverick
-
When I went to Maverick I had had my CDL for 2 1/2 years with no experience and they took me with no refresher course. The period with a trainer basically serves as your refresher course.lucky ducky 007 Thanks this.

Hi Truckermania, new CDL here looking to go flat with either Maverick or Melton. Are you still with Mav? If so, are you happy there? How is the equipment, DM and overall treatment? I'm prehired with both Mav and Melton and need to decide soon. Thanks for any advice you can offer. I live down in Southern Alabama.

This is my understanding: Depending on the division you hire into, you would spend 2-3 weeks in LR for orientation and hands on training. (Temperature Controlled division is the least and Glass the longest.) Assuming you make it beyond that point, you would go out with a trainer for a minimum of 21 days, but it could be 5 weeks (longer if you still need/want further). Some trainers like to keep all their students for 5 weeks, regardless of how well you progress. After that, you return to LR to evaluate out, which is typically 2-4 days. You may or may not get to go home while out with a trainer; it depends on how close to you they live and whether or not they go home during that period. As I understand it, Mav does offer to let you go home for a few days if you have been away from home for a certain number of weeks. I don't recall what the magic number was.
If you hire in with at least 6 months of recent experience, then I think you must do a road test but are not required to go out with a trainer.
I hope this helps. -
Does anyone know what divisions are going to canada? I know glass division does but i am going to be living about 100 miles outside of the hiring area.
