Had a not so funny thing happen this morning. Needed to cut thru Pittsburgh and get fuel on I-70 in Smithton. Too a wrong turn. In Pittsburgh. Never again! Lesson learned. First of all, even if load is heavy, get more fuel! Second, stay out of Pittsburgh in a semi! Don't think I've ever been so happy to see the interstate in all my life! But, I made it thru, didn't hit anything or anyone so it's all good!

 

Dropped this morning. Waiting for our appt for the Walmart DC here in Colton. Then off to Henderson, NC. Getting more info in the morning according to dispatch.

Everything is going pretty good. Need to learn more on setting up the truck for close quarters moving backwards. Things are coming along nicely though.

You will find that there aren't really any "good" companies. Abilene just is a lesser evil.

 

Did you go through the 5 stages of grief when you missed the turn?.

Denial: "That wasn't really my turn, it can't have been."

Anger: "Why didn't the *@!#%@#'* GPS announce it sooner!!!".

Bargaining: "If there is another suitable turn up next, I promise to pay more attention next time.

Depression: "This is it, I am as good as fired now, Abilene won't want me getting lost in their truck anymore."

Acceptance: "OK, I got myself in this mess and I will get myself out of it".

 

Does anyone know the magic words the Florida Agriculture Inspection station wants to hear when hauling Hill P so I can avoid them delaying me to copy my BOLs.?

I have tried...

"Display cases"
"Deli cases"
"Coolers"
"Freezers"
"Refrigeration equipment"

None of those work.

The one time I was actually carrying food in a running reefer they didn't seem to care.

 

I did do the first and last ones. GPS wasn't saying anything at all and I followed the truck route so I knew I was ok on that. It just took me too far west again. I should've stayed straight instead of following said truck route, but .... Then I was on a smallish street, but truck route signs still around so I was holding my breath while cars darted around me. What got me a little flustered was when the truck route signs disappeared. Then the road got a wee bit tighter so I pulled off to the side and made a call to the local PD. Always good to double check before getting into an even worse situation.

 

I just say refrigeration equipment and have not had them do anything but wave me thru.
