I was only at Mercer for a short time but I built relationships with different agents and brokers to the point they'd call me for loads sometimes even on the weekends..social skills and networking takes you far places.. It's not very hard

It's really just a matter of being pleasant to deal with. And having the ability to get the job done right, damage free, every time. Obviously that applies more to open deck freight than van, where you just gotta show up on time.

But duddie, the one thing i don't get is the whole time you were at mercer all you did was complain about it here, but now that you are gone, all you do is talk about how good mercer is. Why the change of heart? Was it just as simple as seeing the grass isn't really greener on the other side of the fence? Or not realizing just how good it was till you went somewhere else and realized our problems are minor in comparison to what others deal with? Or what?

I didn't see when it was first posted, but if i had i wouldn't have dismissed it as a joke. Those loads paying that good don't happen every day, but they do happen. I've gotten 4.50 a mile on runs out of florida going all the way to the seattle area. Isn't every day or even every month, but it does happen.

What i find more of a joke is all the guys who struggle to get by that think everyone saying they are getting a decent rate is making it up.

Always thought Mercer was a good company.. My complaints came from not knowing the system and learning a new system... But I always said that is I had gone straight to flatbed I would've never came back.. But I got the green light to come back whenever i want so if I do l definitely will be pulling a flat. No way around it

I really don't know what to say to that. I guess all i can say is if 4.50 a mile on long runs over there is really as likely as winning the lotto, I'm glad I'm not over there.

So why wait? If you are certain you want to pull a flat here there is no reason to put it off.

Edit:nevermind, i just saw the if in your post.

Yea I've always in my last year of with truck payments I didn't want to be here because I feel like they would make it hard to finish paying off your truck. Just my opinion.. so I'm coming up on my last year next month so we'll see how the numbers work out but I'm definitely ready for a change in fields tho.. slamming doors is cool but I'm the gym guy so I'd rather sling chains and straps.. once I get over my fear of some #### falling off I'll be gone lol
