Ah come on now. You KNOW he was telling you that will be your excuse with your outfit for not picking up an abandon truck. Fact is, you won't have any idea what that truck is like until you see it. If the driver was pissed enough to abandon a truck, he was quite possibly pissed enough to screw it up. Little things ya know, like leaving a pile of his excrement under the bunk. Or maybe on top of it. Or maybe he will have shot semen all over the inside of the sleeper, (I actually saw a truck like that, and flatly refused to drive it.) Or even something more serious, like screwing with it mechanically.
I knew a guy who did full time recoveries for one of the majors. Some of the stories he would tell, would raise the hair on your head. He was paid very well for what he did, but man it just wouldn't be worth it to me.

I can only imagine the horror stories he could tell. Hopefully it won't come to that (a recovery) for me but I'm prepared to do what is necessary to get on with driving. .30 per mile may suck out loud but I can triple, with relative ease, what I'm making now and like all of us I could sure use the money.

    Actual Driver Day 1

Wow this sucks the big one. Just got back to the hotel to try and get some sleep so I can get up at 1am to catch a cab to KC so I can get on an effin Greyhound to Tulsa, OK to go recover a truck. Maybe I should have kept my big yap shut in that L/P meeting because this sort of feels like retaliation for showing them up.

At any rate, it's a 2017 T680 that I'll get to drive for at least one load so if the dang thing isn't green (I don't like KW's green paint scheme) it won't be a total loss.

I'll check in tomorrow morning before I leave.

Hick, bamalife123 and Lonesome Thank this.

Seems to me they would have a truck heading in that direction that you could of hitched a ride with. Not sure if they're intentionally trying to mess with you but I'm sure time will tell. Good luck to you.

That might be the only way I would recover it... If it was gonna be mine... Otherwise, get me a plane ticket....
