I pointed out the actual cost of running a truck and may have suggested that it was a poor business decision, in my opinion, to enter into a lease agreement with a company who was the defendant in a class action federal lawsuit regarding their lease/purchase program. I asked why you were not allowed to test drive your potential truck or why they would not permit you having counsel review the contract before signing.
I guess it has as much to do with the mindset of the former operator as anything else when it comes to the condition in which I will find the truck.
Seems like it to me also but I'm a big boy and I can take a little crap if necessary.
It would be nice, I suppose, but I will be hooking a load to it then driving it to Rockwall to turn both over and pick up my truck...at least that's the current plan.
The only saving grace in this is that the bus ride is only about 5 hours.
Yeah, and I doubled down on that by being a smart ### in the L/P meeting. Given a chance to redo the whole deal I'd do exactly the same thing. My Dad told me many, many times that if you're going to be stupid, you'd better be tough.

I did the same thing at May Trucking back in 2010. With only one year under my belt, their blue suede shoes sales guy there offered me the opportunity to make some "real money".
I asked for a copy of the lease contract. Aside from finding many substantive, grammatical & date errors, the contract wasn't worth the paper it was written on.
I told him so with a big smile on my face, of course, and walked outBroke Down 69 Thanks this. -

From my personal observations and having done a lease op walk away contract for a while, you can make better than employee wages in the right situation. The guys that have an opportunity to train students as L/O or O/O do even better because they are able to capitalize on the extra mileage being paid to the truck in volume.
I was a trainer for over a year, and no offense, it gets really old having someone in your space all the time.Hick Thanks this. -
Well I'm up and waiting on a cab to KC. Not alot of sleep but I'll put in as many hours as I feel safe and then shut her down for some sleep. Kind of nervous but I suppose that is to be expected.

Hmm usually they are farther away than that. Who would abandon a truck that close to the terminal and have that put on their record?
And you should have just nodded yes while saying no in that meeting. I was never at a LP meeting, but I think it might be a little early to ruffle feathers. Just sayin'.Broke Down 69, Big Don and ncmickey Thank this. -
