I'm not sure if this is what you were saying you can't do or not, but you can try setting the trailer brakes and releasing the truck brakes. If the truck brakes are released, it doesn't think you are idling, but rather sitting at a red light or in traffic ready to go any second.
idling a truck. . .

And that's fine
As long as you don't screw up
The dot and crash lawyers know all about those programs and how to retrieve the data.
Make a mistake and you can lose your house and maybe go to prison.
A lot of guys bragging about their 3 log books are just rolling the dice.
Even without a tracker program, in this day and age, if the need arises, they WILL find out where you were and when.
Too big a gamble for me. -
An example is that guy several years ago running for a renegade company out of Alabama
In KY, he fell asleep, crossed the median on 65, and killed a van load of Amish on their way to a wedding.
I think 10 Amish died and the truck driver.
One baby lived
Everything got found out and the Trucking co was shut down
It's probably best that the trucker died
Spending the rest of your life in prison thinking of the people you killed would be worse than death. -
Yea I rolled the dice myself a time or three.
Don't do it. Ive found religion as a sinner and refuse to do that kind of rolling now. You would absolutely lose everything if you get caught.LindaPV Thanks this. -
Yep
I remember many the time driving til I was mostly asleep, pulling into a rest area, taking a 3 hr nap, then get rolling again
I'm glad for elogs
They'll keep me out of prison and hopefully keep me from killing anyone.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
That's unusual to have only a high side setting, isn't it? So there's no low side setting that you know of?
-
Remember that well. Was a company that ran auto parts. They established that the driver was on the phone during and prior to the accident, and that's why it costs $2,475 when you get caught with it in your hand. That baby was in the rear most seat and in a child safety restraint. A miracle.Rusty Trawler and x1Heavy Thank this.

low? Im not sure if you wish to have a truck think it's negative 10. It's going to stay idling in winter lord willing.
-
Yep. 6 months. I was with my last company 3 years..I have no idea how many audits were performed but nothing was ever said.
I don't have to worry about it now..x1Heavy Thanks this. -
The idle limiter override on our trucks is set for 34° on the low side (I think, don't quote me!) and 75° on the high side (again, don't quote me...)x1Heavy Thanks this.
