They're worse from San Antonio.
I was referring to IF I was in San Antonio. -
I'm probably getting fired. This was my first week solo and they already sent me home, and I had to leave my truck at the OC and remove my belongings. I hit a truck and a trailer at the OC in one night within 15 minutes of each other. They wanted to give me extra training, but then they sent me home because I requested help dropping the load I had (since I wasn't allowed to leave). I could have dropped it myself well enough, but I had already hit two things in one night and didn't want to find out what would happen if I hit a third. Now I'm at home waiting to see what decisions will be made next week. They're still open to giving me an extra week of training with a TE, but I have a really, really bad feeling that I will make the call next week and get told they are letting me go.
They said I "didn't have the confidence or the enthusiasm" for the job. That isn't true, I was so happy when I got the job, I just felt like crap after having a really, really bad night that involved being unable to find a suitable empty, getting lost, and hitting two things. How could I possibly be all smiles the next morning?
By the way, if the guys whose truck I hit is reading this, I'm sorry. You probably didn't get the note I left you because I noticed it was still in your door handle when the rain came. All it said was that I am sorry, and that I am a big, stupid, #### up.
Do you guys think that if I get fired, another company will hire me? Or will they say "oh, he was terminated in his first month, hell no!" I'm willing to bet nobody, not even a taxi company, will hire me after this. I'll be living in my car soon. -

I backed into one and misjudged a turn on the other, but they said the first one will be taken off my record because it doesn't look like I damaged it. But I don't know what they'll really do. 3 strikes? How many months does it take to clear the record?

I really have no idea. Sorry I can't help you further, I'm pretty sure every case is different. New drivers hit stuff. It happens. The fact that you hit two objects in the same 15 minutes tells me that you were probably still worked up from hitting the first truck and that's where your brain was at. If you do go out with another TE, they're going to want to see that you can work yourself out of a tough situation and remain focused on the task at hand.

A guy who started on IP with me knocked an awning off a building his first week. I'm not sure how but I know they sent him for one day training and sent him back to work. He's been fired since then but they don't expect you to be perfect in your first few months
milehunter43 Thanks this. -
And if not, so what? There's multiple other companies that will hire you. I know it's very overwhelming starting out, we have all been there. Enjoy the holiday weekend, try to keep your mind off of it, and get back at it next week.AM14 Thanks this. -
Man, look......they're willing to give you a second chance; take it. Just about everybody has hit something, just not everybody has reported it though. You'll be fine. Take a couple of days off, get drunk, get a shot of leg, and come back better than ever. You'll be fine. Heck, I crashed a helicopter once and still got my wings.......LOL.
