Google is your friend. For the system restore. But what you really want is a operating system UNINSTALL. And that's not going to happen.

The system restore doesn't always work anyways.

NOW, if you really want to RESTORE your laptop. Again do a google for system wipe and restore methods for your laptop model. It'll tell you how to access your motherboad BIOS and get into the system software to do a wipe and reload of the original operating system. All of that is embedded and hidden on your hard drive. THAT'S the only chance you have of going back to windows 8. HOWEVER, MS10 will just redownload again. And you'll be right back where you already are. Unless you stay out of the store and don't use it. Then you might be able to keep it from downloading. BTW. that's 3.5 gigs of internet data usage everytime you download MS10

In all honesty. Windows 8 was the biggest POS microsoft ever released. And microsoft knows it. That's why there's no UNINSTALLATION method provided. I'd learn to use windows 10.

I own every version of windows since 3.1. 8 is the only thing i don't own. It's not worth having even if it was free.

No, read my post above. You can do a system wipe and reload of the operating system. You just have to make sure updates are turned off from ever downloading windows 10.

I'd back up anything i didn't want to lose though. LIke save your stuff to a usb thumb drive. Cuz you'll lose everything and have a fresh operating system just like the day you bought it.

If you don't feel you can handle it. Then YES. you're screwed. It's really not a big deal though, once you've done it.

Okay... many suggestions have been given, but you keep complaining.

Download Open Office from the link and see if you can see your Excel files. I updated two computers to Windows 10 with no loss of functionality in any programs.

I did have to reset my sound output from the computer back to my Dyna-Docks. Right click on your sound icon in the start up tray to make sure you are set for the right playback device.

As for the printer, uninstall in from the control panel and add it back again.

One thing at a time. As each item you find does not work, work on getting that working.

How often do you run programs such as CCleaner?

As for your Anti-Virus make sure there is not an update for it for Windows 10.

Less complaining on every post and let us know what the issue is and the fixes we mention work or do not work. I have been around since Dos 1.

Are you sure you just did an "overlay" of Windows 10 or did you do the bare bones updates which will wipe everything?

sorry to be a burden and a "complainer". And congratulations on be 'around' since DOS 1. Perhaps if you're around a bit longer, you'll be able to render useful advice.

You said you cannot open a excel file yet you shown a pdf file. I mentioned several times email me the file to verify it will open. I mentioned several times to get open office. Yet you did nothing to tell us any really useful information to assist you. You just complained what would not work. It is like calling a truck mechanic to fix your truck over a forum post. Next time someone assists you do not make snide comments about their experience.. I probably have forgotten more about dos then you know personally.
