I've seen a bunch of onion loads on flats. Never saw one tarped, hence I knew they were onions!!
I always wondered what would happen if they got wet.

    bzinger Thanks this.

I always see them top tarped, and from what I understand you have to drop the sides down at night or if it rains or something, have to stay open so they don't get too hot. A friend of mine has hauled them and was talking about it, I never have,

Judging by the side of the road it's either a shifty load or they tend to load guys who can't secure a load. (Probably both) There's always onions on the shoulder of the road along 80 this time of year. About two weeks ago there was at least two pallets worth scattered over about 4 miles near Little America.

Never hauled em myself but I hear if you do your tarps will smell like onions for awhile.

I've heard you're that supposed to leave about a gap between the rail of the trailer and the bottom of the tarp. If that makes sense. So the drop would end about a foot above the trailer?
Onions need ventilation or they'll mold or something to do with the natural gas they produce? (lmao)

    Good luck to you

I guess you just tarp the load like you don't know what the #### you're doing and roll with it.

I'd call this the "Mohawk tarp" method lol

I've never seen an onion load that paid enough to haul. Now I can't and I'm fine with that.
