I couldn't do it either. Training was bad enough. Always did a fist pump after unloading a student after a couple weeks.

Im curious as to his fellow driver. Is he a 1099 driver? How did you find him? This already fascinating thread just got even better

I'm going to keep this about team and aspects of it, most of the personal details of my operation I'm not going to share with the whole internet.

With that being said Schneider does allow it, the driver needs 1 year OTR experience within the last 3 years to be qualified.
Also they have to go through owner operator orientation.
Obviously I am paying someone well enough to do this and I also expect myself to earn a sizable amount more compared to when i was solo.

Fw keep in mind that hiring guys as a 1099 driver never gets through an audit. And if the driver and you pay ways on a less than ideal circumstance one phone call to the state labor board will land you in hot water.

Yeah be scared and really careful, because the news is full of all the Russian companies who are being shut down and prosecuted.

I trained for a year way back when. Between guys who couldn't go to sleep without the TV being on to a guy who had zero conceptual awareness of backing to a guy who had no clue how to follow directions to a guy who seemingly selectively brought up the olives on a Subway sandwich (you can't make this stuff up), a year was all I could take.

No but all the American born and bred guys are being targeted. Add in the fact that a team driver with the boss driving, how in the heck will you argue independent contractor in that situation?
